Lafayette—William J. “Bill” Airhart, 67, Lafayette, died Friday morning, April 28, 1989.
  He was born March 6, 1922 in Lafayette and was a life resident. He was married Dec. 26, 1961 in Walkerton, to Olga Lillian Winkelman, who survives.
  He was employed 40 years as an engineer with Vulcan Material-Medusa Aggregates in Lafayette, retiring in 1987.
  During World War II, he served in Italy and Africa with the U.S. Army.
  Surviving besides his wife are a son, Allen Zehner, with Sea Life Command; six daughters, Mrs. Judy Brilles, Mio, Mich.; Mrs. Karen Morehouse, West Lafayette; Mrs. Sandra Hatke, Kingman; Tonya Airhart, Lafayette; Mrs. Sherrie Read, Peru, N.Y., and Katrina Airhart, at home; one brother, Robert D., Lafayette; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Ferguson and Mrs. Josephine Hanover, both of Lafayette, and Mrs. Mary Montgomery, Delphi, and eight grandchildren.
  Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday in Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel with the Rev. Leroy Hill officiating. Burial was in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with graveside rites by American Legion Post 11. -s
